Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following: This magnetic drill press does not come with a chuck; it is set up to use annular cutters instead of twist drill bits. You can purchase the 1MZV9 chuck and arbor kit separately to use standard twist drill bits.
