Rated 2 out of 5 by Superb idea with problems We have more than ten of these machines in use, on a very large construction site. We started using a pair about a year and a half ago and have added more with time because our specialist plumbers love them. When working, these cutters are great and there is really no alternative on the market, especially for cutting in confined spaces, between closely packed pipes. However, we have had problems with several units that do not work well, especially on smaller pipes like 12 and 15mm (around 1/2"): The cutter wheel simply does not engage, just slips on the pipe surface forever. Some machines have been that way out of the box. Some mechanical issue, that does not put pressure on the cutter wheel. We have swapped cutter wheels, lubricated etc. but all in vain. There seems to be some manufacturing issue because it has been this way on 4-5 units out of 10+, on a smaller or larger degree. One unit did not work on any size pipe. The cutter heads seem very sturdily built so it may be some issue with tolerances? The machines have been bought a few at a time, from different suppliers, and should be from different batches. The rest of the machines have worked perfectly and a ballpark estimate is that they have accumulated something like 100.000 cuts by now with no signs of problems, apart from the ones described above. Despite the problems, we can not live without these cutters! December 17, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice time saver when it works 100% Had for less than a year, cuts 3/8OD to 1-1/8 Don't let it get wet or it'll stop working. Noticed that when a past coworker had let some water run into his. Mine already needs gearing repaired. It does save time when you're not cursing at it for too long though. Also the cutting wheel walks sometimes. Will see how helpful the Milwaukee repair people are. November 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Old school WAS good New School is Great! I am a boiler installer for a living, everyday I cut 1/2 pipe up to 11/2 pipe but when cutting pipes against a wall or in a tight spot THIS TOOL IS AMAZING! I borrowed this tool from a friend.... He may never get it back or I Must run out and get one! It cuts in a quarter of the time and very powerful tool! This is now A must for me! Not to mention it charges so fast! November 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding Performance Very impressive. Acurate & quick cuts in tight places not able to be done with older Pipe Cat unit. Finished several products that would take 2 to 3 times longer the old fashioned way with a pipe cutter. April 29, 2013
