Does it shut off when it floats or when it sinks?
Does it have the typical "inline" plug on the end with a receptacle for the pump?

Answer:
This float is a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) style, which means it will send a signal in both the up and down directions for equipment control, and it is a hardwire type without a plug. For a ‘piggyback’ switch like one on a sump pump you may prefer item 3BY74.
