Rated 3 out of 5 by Have only used it once so review is based on that performance and description on the website. Contrary to the website the pump is not self priming and says so in the instruction manual. The black plastic knob on top of the pump housing in the picture is the priming port. We pumped from a 55 gallon drum to a waste treatment system at about the same height. We filled the pump casing full of water as per the instruction but the pump wouldn't lift water to self prime. After filling the suction hose the unit worked. We had to reprime when transfering the suction from one barrel to the next despite the foot valve. The unit appears solidly built so except for priming issues I expect it to work well. Answer:
¾” pipe will allow too much head pressure to build up for this pump to operate at a 500’ distance. Please contact us at 1-800-GRAINGER to discuss your application and we will be happy to assist you.
