Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It One thing that is nice is to get to the door and not have to dig for your keys. And another thing that's nice is when you start the car and you have forgotten something in the house, you don't have to shut the car off to get back into the house. Love It. April 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So easy to use! I'm so happy for the opportunity to say how delighted I am with this product. No more keys to fumble around in my purse for; automatic self-lock after 30-seconds so no forgetting to lock the door; extremely simple to install and program; easy to activate the lock if necessary quicker than 30-seconds. I live alone so always make sure my adult children have a key enabling them to get into my house when necessary. Invariably they misplace the key, put it up somewhere so it's never with them, etc. Now, only a code is necessary and it's with them and with me at all times. No one else has to know the code or where an emergency key is hidden. I realize every cure for one problem can always be overcome by someone and while I realize no safety feature can work for every situation, I feel so much safer inside my home after installing this electronic lock. I've had it since last December and haven't yet had a complaint. April 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by No need to hide a key where others will find it I bought this about a year ago. It was easy to install and works great. I no longer have to worry about the kids not being able to get in because they lost the key. Well worth every penny. April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use I bought this for my aging father. It is easy for neighbors and friends to stop by and he doesn't need to get up to let them in. April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more fumbling for keys We have had 2 of these locks for over 2 years now. Our front door we have it set to auto lock after 30 secs, side door we lock manually as we go in and out of this door with groceries etc. Never have had a problem with either. Had to change the batteries on the side door since we use it more. Don't have to worry about getting keys for others that need to get in for a reason. Took a bit for us to get them installed, but once we figured it out, the second one was a lot easier. Would like to be able to tell who (which code) entered at times. April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfectly finished It's almost been a year since installing this lock and it looks just like the day it was mounted on the front of my house. The lock has worked perfectly and the polished brass finish is exceptional. April 16, 2015

batteries

Do the batteries work the locking mechanism or only to light the keys? Can I get in without a key if the battery is dead?

Answer:
The batteries on this unit power both the keypad light and the mechanism that pushes the deadbolt in and out. In the event that the batteries fail, you would need to use the standard key to release the deadbolt and open the door. You would not be able to get in without a key if the batteries are dead. However, this unit has a blinking LED that would alert you to the fact that the batteries are in need of replacement before they are unable to operate.
