This product is NSF approved for potable (drinking) water but not FDA approved for food. Grainger does not currently carry an FDA approved product for your application.

Answer: 
The manufacturer states, "It is excellent for rebuilding or
fabricating parts, and as an all-purpose
adhesive for metals, wood, fiberglass, masonry,
ceramics, PVC and ABS. Permanently repair
holes, gouges, cuts ... even seals rot in
fiberglass and wood. Cures under water."

Answer: 
Yes this item may work well for you depending on the stress forces. The more the surface area the more strength. Also by roughing up the surfaces with course sandpaper will increase the strength of the joint. Another product that may work even better for this application is our JB Weld two part epoxy, 2UV83 with the same preparation mentioned above.
