Rated 3 out of 5 by new wow I should have came to this web site to read reviews first. just bought a couple days ago and installed yesterday (badger5) hope mine last after reading all these bad reviews. replaced a badger 5 that was about 22 years old and started leaking in seam on the side January 4, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by leaks too soon I have a Badger 5 that is about 4 years old and has started leaking through the unit. The warrantee was for 2 so I'm out of luck. The unit that was installed in our house originally lasted 10 years. Four years is not acceptable. I have contacted Jerica and have been offered a discount but will not be using it. December 29, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Lost faith in this product I've always used Insinkerators products. Plus sold them while working for a plumbing wholesaler. I had a Badger 5 installed in my vacation home less than 3 years ago and it has developed a leak in the housing.so far it only leaks when I operate the disposer. Apparently leaks in the housing are starting to be reported more often.I 've also noticed that it's getting noisier. Since Insinkerator does't have a policy in place to address this beyond the 2 year warranty,I will be replacing it at my expense. I called Insinkerator about this. In retrospect the unit in my mothers house only lasted 5 years before it completely died. I installed a stainless steel unit in my primary home this fall. hopefully I won't have any problems with that. December 29, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by This Product is COMPLETE GARBAGE *LITERALLY* I had this product for less than a year and it suddenly stops working. Its not like this thing is running everyday, only when there is particles on the plate. My last garbage disposal lasted 13 years and it had 10 warranty with in home service. I thought this product would have been solid but it is nothing more than hanging plastic under your sink. This thing is so loud it is unbelievable. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. On top of that the company is offering me 65% off to get a new product and there retail price is so high. my local home depot/ lowes sells it cheaper December 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rusted crack down the side We have the 5-81 model and noticed a smell coming from under the sink. When we opened the cabinet doors water was streaming down the outside of the disposal. The water was coming from a rusted crack along the side of the InSinkErator 5-81. This is seems to be a common problem from what I see from the other reviews. I would like to talk with someone from your company. December 16, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Failed after 3 years. Like other reviewers have reported our 5-84A disposal cracked and started leaking just three years after it was installed. I would not recommend going with this or any other insinkerator product until they fix this obvious design flaw.New cabinet and disposal installation on tap for me this weekend. December 13, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Another Leaker We have a Badger 5-81A garbage disposal unit that came with our new home in 2006. As many others have stated, today we found out that the unit has been leaking water out the bottom. Luckily, my wife was storing some of our cleaning products in a tub that extened undernearth the Badger and all the water was contained by the tub. As others have stated, we are extremely disappointed in the short life of this unit, yes 8 years to us is an unacceptable wear out lifetime. Jessica I have already sent an email to insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com noting our displeasure. December 3, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Clogs easily and leaks we have used the badger 5 for a few years as it was already installed in the house we bought. Has always been extremely loud, doesn't grind certain items well, gets clogged and most recently started to leak from the bottom which seems to be a common theme with this model. Getting annoyed and not wanting to keep worrying about using it ended up buying the the evo excel and installed it tonight so far seems amazing hopefully will last. The badger 5 though I can safely say is a piece of junk. November 17, 2014
