Recently it experienced a low battery situation and switched itself to centigrade degrees on the digital readout. New batteries did not fix the problem.

Answer:
To change the temperature display, you need to enter the Installer Set Up (ISU) of the thermostat. The temperature display option is the very first option in the.

To enter the ISU for the TH1110D, press & hold the up & down arrows until the display shows a large 1 in the center & a smaller number on the right side of the display. With the thermostat showing temperature in Celsius, the number on the right side of the display is likely a 1. It needs to be 0.

To change it, press the down arrow. To save the change, wait 60 seconds until the display goes back to normal.
