Rated 3 out of 5 by Good Value with some concerns This was my third purchase of Hitachi's8-1/2" compound slide miter saw, goingback to the 1990s. This latest versionevolved into a product that feels lesssubstantial than earlier ones. On the plus side, the fully wrapped guard aroundthe blade is a neccessary plus. Did notice that manufacturing went from Japan to China. Accessory clamp is a joke when compared to previous version. Price is reasonable for what you get. February 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product has many features the saw is easy to use,set up for different cuts is straight forward, and light weight to lug around July 11, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by The availabilty of an accessory lazer light would be an advanatage In addition to the above comment, a means to accurately determine the depth of a dado cut without resorting to running a test piece through the machine to make that determination would be advantageous. This could be done through an accessory. I found the base machine accurate and a delight to use. However, I have not experimented with all the various compound cuts available. May 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by 20 + years old and still cutting I have owned this saw for over 20 years. I believe I bought it when it first came out, or close to it. I am a finish carpenter and used the saw everyday, all day to trim houses. Easiest saw to use for trim I have ever owned. Dependable and low maintenance. Very durable. I gave the saw to my son-in-law, but I still grab it to use on some projects. I bought brand "B" and wish I had simply kept using my Hitachi. I may replace brand "B" anyway. Great saw. April 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by It is the best silde compound miter saw I have ever used The Hitachi C8FSE 8-1/2" Sliding Compound Miter Saw has such a dependability on accuracy and ease of use that is unbelievable to have survived in the market for so long. I have the good fortune of owning one and it has saved my day on the job several times. The only parts I have had to replace so far are the saw blades and soon will be the motor brushes. I used my saw to cut laminated floor boards, regular framing lumber, moulding, trim and casing. It is really a workhorse. I will recommend this saw to any serious craftsperson. April 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I truly enjoy working with professional-quality tools, and this saw is one of them. This is the best miter saw I have ever owned, and I've owned a few. Try to buy a reconditioned unit if you can, for more bang for your buck. March 11, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by I like the saw I have had this saw for less than a year and am having trouble with it cutting at a 90 degree angle. If I get it right and have to change the angle then I have the problem of getting it back to the 90 degree. Haven't figured out how to change the 90 degree setting. January 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by It is lightwieght Easy to operate when changing cuts.I also liked easy way to change blades. January 7, 2013
