Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by its a pretty good product. I like it , itdoes the job and its not that heavy. It has a comfortable grip and easy to handle. I have small hands as a woman and it works for me December 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent drill! I just drilled over 400 pocket holes in 3/4 MDF and the drill was still going when I finished, although it was slowing noticeably. This was took a few hours and the drill performed perfectly, barring one small problem. The keyless chuck is great, but you will need to tighten the chuck every once in a while, as it did get loose every 25 - 40 holes.I bought this drill after doing a bit of research on cordless drills. I normally only use corded drills, but I needed a drill with variable torque clutch settings and I couldn't find a corded drill with that feature. I still love my Hitachi D13VG 9 Amp 1/2-Inch Drill, as it has tons of torque, but no clutch.WARRANTY:The DS19DBL has a LIFETIME warranty on the drill itself and a two-year warranty on the batteries. That says a lot about the tool. You won't need to worry about this drill dying, as the brushless motor and lifetime warranty have you covered.TORQUE:In reading reviews, I found that this drill has 593 pounds of torque, which is 27% better than average (468 pounds) for 18-volt cordless drills. This is 125 pounds more torque for tough driving/drilling jobs.BATTERY:This drill comes with two batteries and a charger. The batteries charge in about 45 minutes and last well over an hour of use. The batteries are rated for 3 amp hours of capacity, but I haven't tested the length of charge. Professional reviews I have read stated that the battery run time is 37% higher than average for 18v cordless drills, so I expect that I will get more than a couple of hours per charge. The battery charger is great and features a built-in fan that couples with an air inlet on the battery that allows air to flow in to keep the battery cool when charging.CLUTCH:There are 22 clutch settings that will allow you to get the perfect amount of torque for any job. You won't have to worry about over-tightening or over-driving with this drill.SPEED:The drill has a high and low speed setting on top of the drill. This is complimented by a button on the side of the base of the drill that allows for four variations on each of the settings for a total of eight speed settings. This will come in handy for working with different materials that require more or less speed to drill or tighten. The minimum speed is 400 RPM and the maximum speed is 1,800 RPM.CHUCK:The keyless chuck works very well and can be worked one handed, but not completely comfortably. I haven't had any issues with a drill bit slipping, so the keyless chuck works very well and is very much appreciated.UPDATED 02/02/2013: You will want to tighten the chuck every once in a while, as I experienced loosening of the chuck during a project where I drilled over 400 pocket holes. Just remember to tighten it every once in a while and you will be fine.UPDATED 02/03/2013: I drilled about 40 more pocket holes this afternoon and the chuck loosened up after about 25 holes. This was about the same experience as yesterday, so it seems that the chuck will need to be tightened every once in a while. This is a fairly expensive drill, but it will be worth the money for anyone who needs a high-quality, very-powerful, drill that will last for years.BOTTOM LINE: 5/5 starsHighly recommended February 14, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best cordless Best cordless I've ever used and I've had many. It does everything I've asked it to do. January 10, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great chuck! Great power! Best wear gloves if using this drill's power and your hand to tighten the chuck! You'llwear your hand raw otherwise.I wish the stock batteries lasted longer... but I believe this is a limitation of current battery technology. However, with two batteries andthe rapid charger, I have never had to use my corded drills to "fill in".I love this drill! It's light, yet as powerful as my corded drills! And, the keyless chuck isone of the best I've used. January 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent tools for home or industrial use These cordless tools are powerful, well-balanced, light, and long lasting. I would highly recommend them for home or professional use. Very well made construction. January 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I have bought several wireless drills over the years and this one feels the best in my hand and performs the bast of all After using this drill which is the first Hitachi product i have purchased i will surely buy additional Hitachi tools in the future January 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value. I'm a moderate do it yourselfer. Bought this product when my Nicad sears drill died. I own lawn equipment from Hitachi so I thought I would give this product a try. Glad I did. This drill is outstanding! Great torque. Durable. Battery lasts a long time (much longer than the Nicad sears model). I used it to build deck and only had to recharge it 1 time. I'm not sure about overall longevity of product but if it's anything like my weedeater, should be great! Recommended. January 7, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by best drill i ever bought i had 2 black and decker 21 volt drills and burned them out in no time this drill was more expensive but the battery life is great and so is the over all power if i ever need a new drill i will buy this one over and over again January 7, 2013
