I am installing 3/4 HP 240v submersible deep well water pump and want it to automatically turn on once the tank is near empty and off when near filled . It is a 500 gal underground poly tank. Can this float switch work for this purpose wired to the pump?
Are their any other electric float switches that are less expensive that will do as well for this purpose ? thank you
Ray

Answer:
Ray, for your application the switch type would be normally closed so when the tank is full the switch opens and de-energizes the circuit. Take a look at Grainger item numbers 3HCU1 (15 amp) or 3HCP7 (13 amp) both are for potable water. The 13 amp unit is the cheaper of the two, check to see what your full load amps are on the motor at 230 vac.
