I have the Generac 36KW standby generator (2.4L engine) for my residence. The generator is locatedaway from the main body of my house and I am often not home. I would really like to know when the generator is running and monitor it's functions.
HOWEVER I have no cell phone service in that particular location. 100 feet away in the main body of the house I do have cellular phone service with the repeater I use. If I cannot use a celluar remote wireless device I would at least be happy with a display in my garage that would tell me when the unit ran. That could be hard wired.
Any help?
Thanks,

Answer:
In the event that a customer has limited cellular service, we would recommend utilizing our wireless remote monitor system, model 5928 and the associated kit, model number 5958, for commercial sized generators, from 22-150kW. This accessory enables visual and audio alerts when the generator requires maintenance, an audio alert when the battery is low, features a small and compact design, and includes a magnetic backed casing, which enables mounting on alternative surfaces, such as a refrigerator The wireless remote monitor system should be located in a convenient viewing location within approximately 300 feet of the generator. However, please note that the signal of the accessory can be inhibited if the signal has to go through walls, floors, etc. Some building materials may completely block the passage of the signal. For example: steel beams, metal siding, and foil radiant barrier insulation will likely cause such issues. Further information about the wireless remote monitor can be found on the spec sheet for the remote monitor, or in its owner’s manual. Please contact Generac directly at 888-GENERAC (436-3722), with any other product-related comments, questions, or concerns.
