Rated 5 out of 5 by Very quiet! We chose tholis model since is is SSSOOO quiet. In "test" mode, I have to go outside to be sure it's running.Even on generating mode, it's not much louder.Vey nice machine. June 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth its weight in gold! We live in a rural area that loses power a couple of times a year. The last time we lost it for 4 days, with the power coming back on Christmas Eve. When we lose power, we lose more than just lights, heat, we lose water, and sump pump power too. If we are home, we will have power, if we are gone, we don't have to worry about the basement flooding. It blends in with the house, does not stick out like a sore thumb. Love seeing it sit there with the green light on! The generator not only gives us power, it gives us peace of mind too. May 14, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Just had my Generac installed and hope to not have to worry about not having electricity anymore. We have worried for the past 12 years when it rains too hard or the electricity goes out since our sump pump runs almost constantly. Now we can have peace of mind when we are at home or on vacation. Rated 5 out of 5 by Wintertime security is the best feature A generous neighbor helped us get through multi-day power outages two winters in a row by loaning us an old, cranky portable generator. We did not have option of finding other shelter because my wife's poor health and dietary restrictions keep her homebound.I took the second outage as a clear sign we needed our own generator. I chose a Generac Guardian and an automatic transfer switch for its simplicity and the ability to power our whole house (not just the boiler, freezer and some lights on extension cords).Although there were no power outages during the past two winters, I still feel the Guardian is best home improvement we've ever made because it gives us the security of knowing we'll get through upcoming winters (and other events). This week's automatic Guardian 12-minute test run prompted me to write this review.-- Ward in rural Massachusetts April 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is realiable Since owning our whole house generator it gives us piece of mind that we will never be without power. What a relief. We are now always prepared. March 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by this product does it all Great generator !, this product is perfect for our home. It will power everything from well pump to air conditioner, and everything in between. It's the perfect size , Doesn't look too gawdy in the yard, blends in well. It is also quiet, not as loud as the push mower.already have the neighbors thinking of buying for themselves. Also wife is very happy we don't have to worry about anything when the power goes out any more. the installation crew was great, had it installed in one day. March 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks Good, Runs great Have had the Generac generator 11KW for about 3 months. Have only had to use once. Features are modern and easy to read/use. Runs very quiet. March 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product... and FYI ... My house runs on propane, so the generator is hooked directly to the propane system. It has been in place about two years and works great! Have gone through several outages, and it kicked on flawlessly. The weekly test run is set at 10:30 AM (11:30 in daylight savings time) on Mondays. I checked with the local Generac agent who installed it to ask how much propane the generator uses per hour. He said (if I remember right) it uses 3 gallons an hour. I have a 500 gallon propane tank so if I ever have an extended outage, I plan to turn it on and off over time. The refrigerator and freezer will chill back down, everyone will rush to get a shower, etc.The FYI is ..I have a checkoff list to prep for vacation trips (stop the mail, etc), and I added turning the generator off to the list. Otherwise, a days-long outage could deplete my propane tank. An owner should consider how to handle such a situation. My answer was to turn it off, others might want to have friends monitor it. Answer:
In addition to the generator, you will need to select one of our models of transfer switches. Purchase a group 26R battery with a minimum 525 Amp/Hr, and any miscellaneous electrical and piping parts. This generator does come with the the composite mounting pad and one foot of flexible fuel line connector.

Answer:
The loads required in a house will vary, and are not determined by the square footage of the home, but are determined by the items you deem necessary to run in an outage situation. To properly determine the correct generator for your needs, we recommend working with your local certified electrician, as they will be able to determine the correct size generator to meet your needs.
