It would need to be able to be cut out (shadowed) for the tools. Such as for combination wrenches and sockets.

Is this more like the foam you would see on, for example, a foam paintbrush? or more like the more-rubbery foam you would get in a camping pad or a workout mat?

This item would be more like the paint brush example but remember that this is closed cell with very different characteristics.
