Rated 5 out of 5 by Great features This product is great I tried another brand on my apartment the ones they sell at Bj's and Walmart called Haier and it is horrible, i returned and when i need a portable one this is going to be my choice. October 24, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by RV Replacement Ac / heater The PB 14 was our pick to replace a traditional propane heater and roof top AC unit , With one unit !Our RV is a smaller Class C type I have converted into a Toy hauler , And Let me tell you This unit works GRATE ! Heat or AC, It delivers .We never liked Propane except for cooking , We got rid of the LP furnace, water heater and the LP fridge. and gained a bunch of room from the venting that was required for LP, now gone. We run A gen set when were out in the boonies ,or on the road for everything except cooking , and use Shore power at RV camp sites to furnish the power needs . August 28, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Sleeping comfortably this summer! I bought this product because our neighborhood covenants do not permit window unit a/c's. This unit has allowed us to cool just the master bedroom at night instead of cooling our home's entire 3,000 sq feet. Easy to install. Haven't checked my electric bill to see how energy efficient it is or is not. August 22, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Friedrich P12B is a Winner With summers getting warmer up here in New England, I decided I wanted a portable air conditioner for my downstairs area (appx. 500 Square Feet) Decided to go with Friedrich based on past experience & quailty product name.Installation was a tad tricky up-front. I needed to cut the plastic window housing to fit my window perfectly. The intake/exhaust tubes took me a while to snap into place. But....This is to be expected on my end as I'm horrible with set ups of any kind. Now, it's been a year later & it's a breeze to set it up for the summer months.I find that the P12B unit quiet & powerful. I also like the dual hoses for better efficiency. Most companies use one hose for intake/exhaust. The remote is excellent & works from a good distance away. Plus...The P12B looks nice as well! Some of my friends come over & they are amazed @ just how well the unit works. In fact, a friend of mine went out & purchased a P12B the next day after being in our home that warm muggy night. Friedrich will cost a little more then their competitors, but trust me, it's worth it.You will not find Friedrich product in large "Brick & Motor" stores. Did a dealer search here & found a location within 30 miles. Did you ever notice when you go inside many commercial stores, restaurants etc. that many use Friedrich air condtioners? That should tell you something right there! Are they the least expensive? No & there is a reason for that because it's cost Friedrich more to produce a better quality product. July 7, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic product I survived Hurricane Andrew in Miami and wanted a portable a/c unit in the event we have to go on generators again for my home or office. I have owned this unit now 2 years and it has saved my family many times when someone's main ac unit broke and this unit kept the entire house reasonably cool. My daughter borrowed it and I had to fight her to get it returned. Cools down a room quickly and sounds like a fan.Right now I use it as an additional unit in the main area of the house when it is very hot. It has been very reliable and two years later sounds like it did when I took it out of the box. June 5, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Practical but Noisy Pluses: Clean Design. Accessible controls. Good cooling. Portability. Minuses: Much Noisier than window a/c. Install a little awkward because PVC slides not wide enough to allow easy placement of hose above the splash guard of our new Marvin windows. Must exert alot of pressure to disengage hose collar from window panel. May 29, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy, but works well I like the machine, but it is noisier than a window air conditioner. In my small room I need to use sound reducing earphones to watch TV when it is on. The extra hose means that air to cool the unit's heat transfer comes from outside along with the warmed air being expelled. The closeness of these two openings at the window leads me to wonder if there is crossover -that the heated exhaust air is mingled with the input air. Easy to roll from one room to another. We have central cooling in my building, but as I face southwest my apt. heats up way before the central air system is turned on. Can you quieten the machine? May 10, 2012
