Rated 5 out of 5 by My beep issue was operator error I bought this tester about a month ago. In the field, I noticed that even though the light was working, the beep was not. I read reviews on this site and others and found this to be a common issue. I returned it to the supplier I had purchased it from and they found the new one had the same issue. Long story short, we resorted to reading the instructions. The instructions state, hold the button down for 1/2 to 2 seconds to turn on. To turn the beeper off hold the button down for more than 2 seconds on power up. There was no problem with the VoltAlert. For me, keeping this tester in my pocket is not a good idea. We have to treat it like any other electronic tool. I sweat profusely in the south Louisiana heat. Sweat contains conductive salt. Salty sweat is very corrosive too. Take care of it and it will give you decent service. With the recent electrocutions from equipment traced to compromised grounds, there have been too many cases of individuals being electrocuted when they simply touch a piece of equipment. I purchased this so I could get in the habit of checking equipment before touching it.It is also very valuable for checking an enclosure to be sure there it is not being fed by more than one source of power. Follow the instructions and make sure it is working on a known energized conductor before and after using it to confirm that all power is off. September 5, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Batteries leaked Great while it worked, but batteries leaked and it no longer works with new batteries. August 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Work great. Very handy. I bought 10 or so for techs at work. None have failed to do the job. A word of caution though- READ INSTRUCTIONS!!! The product description over-simplifies the tools intended use. Also, Fluke has an article that further explains the nature of the tool. Once you understand how it works it is an invaluable tool. Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my Fluke This tester is by far the best out there. I see people complaining about it, but if you actually care for your electronic tools, the chances of you having a problem are slim. Fluke doesn't make a bad product. January 30, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed I bought this tester (LVD2) a couple of months ago, mainly because it takes triple A batteries. I thought this is great, it uses standard batteries that you can buy anywhere. Unfortunately, once original batteries died, tester wouldn't work with replacement batteries, very disappointed. Spent a lot for this tester only to get the results I would have gotten from cheaper tester. December 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by might as well be disposable I have gone through three of these testers in 1 year. Number 1 the tip broke off, number 2 sound stopped working, number 3 just stopped working entirely and will no longer turn on. November 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great tool for verifying presence of voltage before you work on equipment. I bought one of these for all my guys and they love them. They also work for verifying whether the ground prong is missing on the electrical cords without having to unplug the equipment – just turn on the tester and touch it to a metal part of the machine and it will light up/sound if the ground prong is missing. An OSHA inspector showed me the trick during an inspection. You have to be careful not to break the tip if you keep it in your pocket or shove it in a tool pouch. April 21, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by No Sound I have 2 of these and found with just a moderate impact on these the sound goes away. March 20, 2014
