Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

This in-line fan is not rated for outdoor use. You can look at part number 5C517 thermoplastic in-line fan. This unit has a water tight electrical box and when used with water tight conduit can be used outdoors.
