Rated 1 out of 5 by I bought this ph meter 2 weeks ago. It malfunctioned today while testing a sample. I was testing a solution around a ph of 10.8 and it suddenly displayed a ph of 6.8. I could not correct it. The last EXTECH that I owned worked for about 9 months before it did the same thing. These meters used to be bullet proof but the quality is not very good anymore. I will be returning it. January 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very easy to set up and use. I wish I had one of these along time ago instead of trying to use the drops. November 28, 2012

Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and we have been advised by them of the following: the primary use is for aqueous solutions. However, you can use it to test the pH in soil but you will need to make a slurry using water and soil to obtain the pH.
