Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost perfect... Ok, so i have has hearing loss all my life, and finding high quality headphones, at first, didnt matter to me. Well, my ears have matured a ton and now i can easily tell large differences in headphones. I have a pair of sony studio monitors, apple earbuds (newer kind), and a really nice sony headset. These etymotics are ssooooooo much better quality. They have a BEAUTIFUL, rich, full sound that you just dont get with most other headphones. The quality and clarity of the sound is astonishing. These headphones do have their weaknesses, though. The bass is not strong. These headphones can go down super low, but not very loud. These really lack a strong low end support. But the bass is still good, not great. Comfort can become an issue after about 30 minutes, unless you have the custom ear molds. Skull rattle, or the low rattling sound that happens when the cord is moved a lot, is an issue. But its not a big deal at all. I love these headphones and i highly reccommend them to everyone. Rated 2 out of 5 by Umconfortable I bougth diferent etymotic earphones I loved them, but the new design of the earphones is umconfortable and even dangerous because you insert it in your ear canal and the design is to large. For example, if you put your head in a pillow the earphone coud pushed inside your ear. The old design was perfect for many activities, including rest in your bed and hear music, but now..... Rated 5 out of 5 by absolutly the best sound of any similar product The HF 5 is a wonderful product. The sound production is beyond description. After using Etymotic earphones for years I can say without reservation, no one produces a better earphone. I've worn out two pair, ran one through the wash and it still worked, though I don't recommend that.Just replaced by previous with the HF5. I recommended to anyone who wants a great listening experience. June 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by EXCELLENT SOUND OUTPUT I am from Bangladesh, in my country definitely I am the the 1st person who bought such types of rare in ear headphone. I bought my hf5 from Newyork. The sound quality is really impressive, crystal clear, tight base & noise isolation is the main feature. Its offer accurate sound. You would not miss any pin dropping sound April 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by a Best value in the world of audio crazyness I will agree with most that for the price I doubt you can do any better. These are very natural sounding and have great detail. allow your self an hour or so to get used to an in ear canal type fit and you will never go back to a foam ear piece. plug these into a quality source and you will be overwhelmed with audio goodness. I have recommended these many times to friends and received rave reviews from those who purchased them. Nicely done, thanks for a quality product. January 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best low profile earbuds out there My much beloved Er6i's went down this past year after a good 10 years of constant use in lots of conditions. I'm a cinematographer by trade and use earbuds to monitor my in-camera audio. It's important to have a very clean sounding earbud that is low-profile and comfortable. The new hf5's are exactly that. They are now my go-to earbuds for everything from listening to music to audio-monitoring. They fit well even underneath a helmet. January 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love them Received these for Christmas. Opened them up and I noticed the right earbud was a little dinged up but still sounded fine. But if your paying the money I want them in mint condition. So I called etymotic and they sent me a new pair without even having to mail the ones I have back first. Got the new ones a week later and they were perfect. Great customer service which is tough to come by.As for the the sound quality they are perfect in my book. Everything is crystal clear and you can really hear all parts of the song. I listen to all types of music from rock to rap to house to gaming it all sounds good. I read a lot of comments about the bass lacking but I don't know what people are talking about i thinks it's fine and my previous pair of earphones were beats by dre.Lastly for comfort once you find the right tip they fit very nicely. I use them at the gym and they never fall out and I rarely have to readjust. And they fit discretely in your ear which I like.Great customer service and great product highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 by Four years in. Looking relatively new I purchased the HF5 earphones on recommendation from a friend. After hearing his satisfaction. If these are your first High-Fidelity tier earphones, you are in for a treat, and surprises (good ones..).You'll begin to realize that when using these you will hear parts of songs that you never heard before. Further, you'll hear things separately instead of hearing them "mixed in".This will lead to "artifact" discovery and error finding in the original recording of tracks(yes! its very cool!).There isn't much more to say about how good these earphones are. They are super accurate. On the contrary of what some say.. These actually produce accurate bass. But obviously they don't exaggerate bass due to their commitment to high fidelity. You might have a hard time adjust to them. I recommend using the clear buds, then foam, and seeing what works for you.The durability is solid. I really like that they've held up so long. They have gone above and beyond my personal expectations. On a final note! If you live somewhere with a lot of rain, snow, precipitation, don't worry. These have a filter which will catch gunk and gunk+moisture. So if you notice sound diminish, its not because they are fried! its because the filter is clogged! Just replace it. replacements and tools are provided. This is great because it saves you a lot of trouble.I think etymotic could have put the above in their manual. I panicked when it happened to me, but I was happy to see it was caught by the filter.enjoy your HF5s! December 12, 2013
