Rated 4 out of 5 by Durability is an issue I've had several pairs of Etymotic Earphones over the years and I really do like them. There are plenty of reviews here that speak to the quality of the sound so I'm not going to add to that. I have had more than 1 pair simply due to durability. The cord deteriorates over time, especially if you using them daily, in which I do. My main use is the gym. I'm active in the gym, which I think is expected, and I constantly see small tears in the cord like the jacket is drying out and falling apart. I get about a year out of them. The company does not have a replacement cord that can be installed by the user and the cost to replace the cord is about the same as buying a new set. Rather disappointing. Even with this flaw, they are still probably the best out there for the price if you are really into sound quality. The also fit nice and offer great isolation when fitted correctly. Just go easy on the cord. December 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This iem changed how I listen to music I used to be a basshead, my preferred frequency response is V-shape(High bass, High treble) but after listened to this I realized how much I have missed from my favourite music, it also make me appreciate oldies music because of their great recordings. This is really a high-fidelity IEM!The triflange needed some time to get used to, my ear canal itches and sore for the first day but on the second day I don't even notice it in my ears. I just hope there are more support for us here in Malaysia as spare parts and accessories are hard to come by. November 10, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing After owning several pairs of in ear headphones in the $100-$200 range from Shure, Sennheiser, and Sony I decided to give these a try. I was very disappointed, and wish I could return them. There is a complete lack of bass. I realize that these headphones are supposed to have a flat frequency response curve, but it sounds like listening to a stereo with the sub woofer completely missing. Going from Sennheisers to this was a complete let down. If you listen to any genre of music that features drums or bass, you will be disappointed. I have found that I only enjoy these earphones with acoustic or folk music. But since I bought these headphones for running and workouts, it does not really suit this activity, really taking the energy out of electronic music. Don't get me wrong, the mid range and high frequencies are terrific, with very accurate and clear sound. I can hear details and nuances that I head never heard before in my music. Overall the flat frequency makes your music sound empty, and it really lacks the warmth given by competing earphones. It gives you the sense that you are listening to very small speakers. Rated 5 out of 5 by I love these earphones! I purchased these earphones because I was looking for something to wear while playing the drum set. Over the ear headphones always seemed to let in too much sound, so I was looking for earphones without having custom ones made. In short, these have far surpassed my expectations. They block out the outside noise so well that I can turn my music way down, which is far less damaging to my ears. The sound quality is really amazing too. I have since started using these in everyday situations such as for doing work and studying in noisy environments. I can't focus with a lot of ambient noise, but these block out all sounds with or without music playing. The only downside is after a while of wearing them I start to notice a little discomfort, but that's after several straight hours of use. Properly inserting them deep enough also takes some getting used to. Overall I am really satisfied with these headphones and would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs to block loud outside noise such as a drum set. November 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Almost perfect... Ok, so i have has hearing loss all my life, and finding high quality headphones, at first, didnt matter to me. Well, my ears have matured a ton and now i can easily tell large differences in headphones. I have a pair of sony studio monitors, apple earbuds (newer kind), and a really nice sony headset. These etymotics are ssooooooo much better quality. They have a BEAUTIFUL, rich, full sound that you just dont get with most other headphones. The quality and clarity of the sound is astonishing. These headphones do have their weaknesses, though. The bass is not strong. These headphones can go down super low, but not very loud. These really lack a strong low end support. But the bass is still good, not great. Comfort can become an issue after about 30 minutes, unless you have the custom ear molds. Skull rattle, or the low rattling sound that happens when the cord is moved a lot, is an issue. But its not a big deal at all. I love these headphones and i highly reccommend them to everyone. Rated 2 out of 5 by Umconfortable I bougth diferent etymotic earphones I loved them, but the new design of the earphones is umconfortable and even dangerous because you insert it in your ear canal and the design is to large. For example, if you put your head in a pillow the earphone coud pushed inside your ear. The old design was perfect for many activities, including rest in your bed and hear music, but now..... Rated 5 out of 5 by absolutly the best sound of any similar product The HF 5 is a wonderful product. The sound production is beyond description. After using Etymotic earphones for years I can say without reservation, no one produces a better earphone. I've worn out two pair, ran one through the wash and it still worked, though I don't recommend that.Just replaced by previous with the HF5. I recommended to anyone who wants a great listening experience. June 27, 2014
