Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Sound cable too short for over the ear I bought these to use with an Android phone. I intended to loop the cable over my ears (like I do with HF5s), but when I do this to microphone is too far away from my mouth. Not what I want, but I guess I'll have to adapt by looping under my chin.Ear pieces don't fit my ears well, but I just take ER38-18a and cut the smallest flange off and reduce the stem length a bit. This avoids the pain of deep insertion. I still get a great seal to the ear canal.Could benefit from slightly lower sensitivity to suppress player/telephone noise (hiss). February 12, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great audio, fair for speaking, cable too long Listening is great. However, the cable length makes me pick up the mic to speak since the clip is too far down the cable and the cable length just dangles. I end up putting them in my pocket since they're so loose I step on them. There is a winder, but it just acts like a pendulum. November 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value I've been using the hf2s for about 2 years with excellent results.I don't understand some reviewer comments about the quality of the microphone. Mine is better than any other earphones that I have used.I'm no expert, but I am an amateur musician who listens to classical and popular music regularly, as well as audiobooks. My musical preferences are heavily vocal. I have owned several brands of bluetooth stereo headsets, and I have a set of Bose IE2s.The hf2 sound quality is excellent when properly inserted. Physical quality doesn't look as strong as many sets, especially those with heavier tangle-resistant cords. However, I have had no problems.I'm planning to have custom tips made and would gladly replace them with another set if these were lost or damaged. November 18, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by great sound, ok comfort, poor build quality I love your earbuds for the most part. I have owned several pair and the sound quality and isolation capability is the best. The comfort is ok for in-ear earbuds.I have had many issues with the quality of the devices - hence having several pair. On some pairs the earbud separates on the unit itself. This has happened with three pair. On two other pairs I have had the rubber start unraveling or opening up and falling off the wires. I am very gentle with the units, but whereever they are being built there must be some quality issues with the materials or assemble. June 5, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great sound, cable tends to split :( The headset works great with my Android phone (Galaxy S2) and the remote even works with my iPod which was handy. Sound quality is good and noise isolation is excellent as long as i insert them properly. One problem is I have had a couple of pairs of HF2's as well as a couple of pairs of MC5's. All of them eventually had the insulation split just after the reinforced part of the plug and shortly afterwards the sound will start dropping out and eventually stop working completely. It usually takes 6 months to a year, but spending that much on earplugs that regularly isn't all that great. I suspect a straight plug instead of an angled/doglegged plug might fix this for me. Rated 2 out of 5 by Very mixed results I purchased the HF2 after having owned other Etymotic products with a high level of satisfaction. Unfortunately my loyalty went unrewarded as my experience with the HF2 fell far short of expectations. The Good: Like all other Etymotic noise isolation headphones, the sound quality is outstanding. In fact, I continue to use my HF2s as general purpose headphones with my smartphone and laptop. The response is very smooth with clarity and presence in all frequency ranges. The Bad: The microphone is practically useless in any environment. There is considerable background noise and the people that I am calling report that voices are faint and muffled. The Ugly: I prefer the foam eartips over the plastic ones, but I find that the newer, black foam tips are uncomfortable when compared to the previous pink ones. They also do not seem to retain their elasticity as well as the previous standard foam tips.Overall, I cannot recommend these as an everyday headset because of the poor microphone. The headphone performance, however, is consistently good. June 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by double bonus These earplugs not only have unbelieveable sound quality, but they also keep my husbands snoring out, double bonus!!!! June 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible value hf2 Earphone/Headset I am a headphone freak. I own Sennheiser HD800s, AKG K240/K-301/K-500, Beyer DTC-770, and many more.I am on public transportation every day, have tried many cans designed for "quality portable listening" that regularly failed in the passive isolation and transparent musical reproduction areas. The hf2 is the real deal. Using these with my smartphone or laptop running Skype/iTunes, the reproduction of musical timbres and low level information are for me truly stunning at this price. When you add the headset feature these in ear cans are a no-brainer.The one quibble I have is the "Awareness" software. I find this "finicky" to precisely adjust and a distraction in use. I have uninstalled from my smartphone. All in all the hf2s are for me an incredible value.Good work Etymotic! June 3, 2013
