Details

These powered earplugs let you quickly and easily toggle between two modes, both of which provide instant protection from short, loud firearm blasts. "Automatic Hearing Mode" allows natural hearing, with automatic attenuation when noise exceeds safe levels. Or, switch to "Hearing Enhancement Mode" to amplify ambient sound by as much as 15dB to help enhance awareness of your surroundings in tactical situations. These earplugs include an assortment of ear tips, a neck cord, a filter tool and filters, a cleaning tool, batteries, and a protective case.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Good Protection, Annoying Design In my experience with these, they do provide good protection, and the amplifiers work well, almost as good as my $4000 hearing aids. That said, they are annoying to use. I find the switch frequently gets flipped to the non-amplified position, partially because I am touching them frequently to ensure they are in right, and they never seem to stay in right for long. The connecting cord between them is annoying. It is an exercise in frustration trying to get the plugs plus that springy connecting cord back into the little box, and when they come out the cord is usually all snarled and tangled, requiring me to unsnarl it before use.The tiny batteries are a pain.... since there is no on/off switch and these are air-activated batteries, they go dead even if you take them out. I have to put in new batteries every time I use them. The batteries aren't cheap.Overall, I wish I had not wasted my money on these. Etymotic needs to do some human engineering work on these... the audio stuff is fine, but they are quite annoying to use. January 19, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by not what i thought When I first used them it was outdoors. They worked seemingly well. When I used them at an indoor range, I almost burst an eardrum. I resorted to my over the ear kind. Am I using these plugs improperly September 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works great, way better than custom plugs I have custom ear plugs for shooting. When I added a brake to my Mini they just weren't enough protection and I added muffs to the plugs. But they interfere with the cheek weld. Starting researching options and found the GSP15s. Already being an Etymotic customer I order a set. Concern was a big price and will they really work? I have used them a couple times at the club range and they work great. They are worth the money if you value your hearing! July 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by good product that works I bought these for shotgun shooting and hunting and have been very pleased with the performance. I can hear normal conversations and the blast protection is great. I use them on the range with my 338 Win Mag, and also with a friends 338 Win Mag with a muzzle brake. Normally I would wear double hearing protection when he shoots his cannon, but with the Gun Sport Pro I am fine with just them. There are plenty of adapters for the ear to find one that is comfortable. Battery life is good, especially if you open the door when done, as the instructions say.I called factory and got good information and assistance, very nice fellow answered all questions and some I didn't know I should ask. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great shotgun blast suppression I shoot sporting clays, high volume shooter more than 10,000 rds/yr. I have tried multiple types of passive ear plugs for years. I decided to try these because of the attractive price. I have had them a month and shot several competition events using them. The noise suppression was much better than my expectation and better than custom ear plugs. The natural sounds where great. I forget I have them on. I highly recommend them. January 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent in the field and at the range I have used my GSP 15's high volume dove hunting on several occasions. They work quite well and I like them much better than wearing bulky headphones that slide around. The 5x amplification is outstanding because you can hear conversations and don't need to shout as you tend to do wearing a pair of headphones. Here is a user tip that saved my bacon. They are easy to loose, even with the safety strap attached, as they are so small and transparent. Take a retractable cord accessory clip(think fly fishing) and run the safety strap through it and clip to the collar of you shirt. You will have a pretty fool proof way not to lose them in the field. This is a wonderful product and well worth the cost. October 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Way better than ear plugs but not perfect I just finished dove hunting with the gsp15 hearing protectors. They protected my ears from shotgun blasts perfectly! I used them on amplify mode and could hear all conversations from my fellow hunters, which is important when birds fly in behind you and they are calling out where the birds are. Also where we hunt you have to be alert for rattlesnakes, so you want to hear well !!! I have used all other non amplified plugs and was not pleased, they make me deaf to my surroundings. My only complaint is, if you have the slightest breeze you will have wind noise distortion, similar to a cell phone in the wind. If there is a fix for wind noise these gsp15 hearing protectors would be perfect. September 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Product I have worn moulded inner ear hearing protection for many years, and they are very effective. However I am effectively deaf for the entire time I have them in,which means I miss alot of conversation and ambient sound I need to hear. I had electronic muffs when I taught firearm classes, and I had anextra pair for the student so we could converse. Shotgun shooting with muffs isdifficult, as the stock sometimes hits themuff, and may even break the seal neededto protect hearing. The GPS 15 is thePERFECT solution to this problem. I was amazed at the ease of use, the many stylesof ear inserts provided and the 5X featurethat allows the unit to amplify sound. This is truly a FANTASTIC product, wellworth the cost.
