Rated 5 out of 5 by Unbelieveable I do technical support calls for my business in the arena DURING an NHL hockey game using the Ety-Blu, no problem. Be sure the mic is near your mouth. If it's under your chin, the caller won't hear you. Not much on style but the performance is fabulous. July 13, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great Technology - Shame about the ergonomics Whilst the headset technology is great it suffers from a number of major design faults.1 - The headset sits too far away from your head. On my head (and read instance on another Amazon UK review) the headset naturally sits about 10mm away from the skin and so ends up flapping about like a wet fish.2 - The main button is not easily located without removing the headset and looking. Try doing that whilst driving and needing to answer a call!3 - There is no audio notification of use of the main button. e.g. simple beep on power up or power down. Connection to Bluetooth device, etc.I bought it specifically for its noise cancellation and microphone cancellation capabilities when driving a soft top car and these work great. Just a shame that the poor ergonomics of the headset make it unusable. April 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is the best bluetooth headset period. After trying virtually every bluetooth headset on the market, the EtyBlu2 blows the other ones away. Absolute sound perfection. Can conduct business on a busy New York Street without missing a beat. Sure you can buy a bulky boom or a can type headset, but they are impractical for day to day business. I've purchased several just to keep a few for back-up. Yes they are that good. January 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pleased 12.17.12, Problem update 11.20.13 Both incoming and outgoing sound quality are the best I've experienced. Comparable to a quality wired boom unit. I solved the lack of a2dp and voice command compatibility by using the Mono Bluetooth Router app that came out 12.2.12. To improve sound volume I went to Michael's craft store and got two part silicone molding putty for $10 on sale to make my own custom earpiece. Use enough silicone putty to allow the rectangle of the etyblu2 to nestle and upon curing it holds it at the perfect angle making the earhook unneeded. If you don't like the purple color of Michael's silicone putty you can order Radians Brand flesh colored putty from a sporting goods store online for $20 and get enough for two earpieces. The purple Michael's brand gives you a half pound to make several or for trial & error. Again, "very pleased." (12.17.12)UPDATE As of 11.20.13: I've now had the etymotic Blu2 for a year. Function and quality are still excellent after changing the earwax filter. However, I have found the boom to be fragile when placed in a pocket and forgotten. After repeated bending of the boom the boom cracks at the earpiece and dangles from the wires. A stronger LESS flexible boom would be in order. I "patched" the one I have by "splinting" two small black zipties to the boom/earpiece connection with super glue. Then I used black electrical shrink tubing over the "splints". That reinforced half the boom from the earpiece down with the small black zipties and shrink tubing. Still looks ok, just thicker. I will buy another etyblu2 when I break this earpiece a final time, but I will "splint" and zip tie the boom right away. November 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by What?!?!? You haven't bought yours yet???? I never take the time to log back onto a website to provide a review of purchased hardware. This headset has transformed my life nearly as much as having a smartphone has. It's that big a deal to me that I felt the least I could do was help Etymotic *and you* by writing a review.I often work in situations that have me on a rooftop in the wind speaking with someone inside the building. Needing both hands for the work task, I went through five headsets, wired and wireless, until I could find a solution that enabled me to hear others and them to hear me without all of the wind noise. I finally purchased this device and it solved that problem. With the ability to insert the earpiece into my ear canal, I can now have the volume lower and still have intelligibility.I now use it while I'm mowing the lawn to listen to music or audio books. I put an earplug in the other ear and I'm blissfully isolated from the mowing sound. I had a friend call and I took the call while mowing. I apologized for the mowing noise and asked if I should stop. My friend thought I was lying to him. He thought I was inside the house and he could hear me clearly!!!Other reviewers speak of driving down the road and people on the other end being oblivious to that fact. They're correct. At least once a week someone will ask if I'm in front of my computer and they think I'm lying when I say I cannot help them right away because I'm driving. The range on the radio is great, too. When my cell phone is drained, I'm able to put it on a charger and still go quite a distance around and maintain connection. Phone inside, me on the roof. Phone in a sound booth far away, me on a catwalk. Phone in the back part of the house, me to the mailbox by the curb. It really does go much farther than I ever thought it would. The battery life is also great. After having *this* headset for nearly a year, I had a four-hour call on it today, then had another three calls after that for at least another hour of talk time before the unit died. Oh, but I last charged it two days ago. Granted, I didn't talk a ton over the weekend, but still...The many options for earplugs, on-ear vs. in-ear, etc. are amazing. I do think the next step is the custom fit plugs like one gets for Aviom in-ear monitors.I must say that the support is incredible. I had my unit quite a while and suffered some damage. I was just looking to pay them to repair my unit. I brought it in and they opted to give me an entirely new unit. I was utterly shocked. These people stand by their product in a way that is too rare these days! Finally, the one thing I would improve is that I would get a case for this thing. With the unit in my pocket, the boom gets scrunched when I sit down. My second unit just got crushed and the cylinder upon which the earpiece slides fractured. Only half of it is left, but the earpiece stays on, so use it I will. I suspect this would have been prevented with a case. I would look geekier with a case for a large bluetooth headset, but I wouldn't care. The unit is a game-changer, in my opinion. With studies and statistics regarding car accidents involving the use of cell phones just on phone conversations, never mind the texting, laws are starting to mandate the use of headsets. But once you use one of these, you won't want to hold a phone up to your head anymore. Listening to crappier sound while going through the inconvenience of holding a phone to your head will be a major annoyance. If everyone had one of these, the problem would be solved without the need for legislating a solution!Have you bought yours, yet?!?!??! October 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best blu-tooth solution I've found. I've been using Etymotic Research products for well over a decade. When they came out with the original EtyBLU (1) it was a game changer for me in it's ability to allow great clarity in high noise and relatively high wind situations without the need for one to scream or speak unnaturally loud to be heard clearly. With the EtyBLU2, they upped their game adding even longer battery life, increased range and standardized charging port. This is the BluTooth you've been looking for. Buy one and be done with it! September 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great noise canceling solution I was using one of these on a conference call in a parking lot at an air force base as the Blue Angels practiced right over my head. I had a finger wedged in my other ear in order to hear myself think... no one on the call heard a peep. September 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 Great Sound Quality The sound quality is quite satisfactory and my voice quality to the people I call is really excellent. Sometimes those people can't believe I'm on a cell phone! The handsfree functionality is now working fine with a recent upgrade to android on my Samsung phone.I have minor issues with couple of design elements. First, the Multi-Function-Button (MFB) could be better designed. In order to use it you must push the unit straight into your ear. For me, that hurts a little as the earpiece is already lodged quite deep into the ear canal. Also, if you try to grab the sides of the unit to reduce inward pressure while pressing the MFB, you must inherently press the volume button located on the side of the unit. Ideally, I'd like to be able to grab the unit from the sides without pushing any buttons, and press buttons without pushing into my ear or pushing any other buttons in the process.I'm quite happy with the performance of the product other than the minor nuisances above.
