Rated 5 out of 5 by Very solid and built to last. We use echo 280t's on our trucks. They are the best and most reliable whips we have had for along time. February 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by ECHOOOOOOOOOO! I bought an Echo model SRM-280T weed eater this past month, and it is one of the BEST investments I have ever made. The ease of starting, the light weight, and the strength of the motor make this yard tool my favorite in the shed. I cut my weed eating task in half; previous weed eater took me two and a half hours on my acre property; now only 1 hour and fifteen minutes, and I was DONE!Now looking to purchase other ECHO products. Can't wait!Thank you,AL G November 4, 2015

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not Sure How to Rate This One My old Homelite weed wacker finally puked last night so I figured it was time to treat myself to something nice. I looked online and read all the opinions on which string trimmer was the best, and as expected the results were all over the map. But I bought an Echo blower last year and it's a fantastic I figured I give Echo another shot. So I bought the SRM-280T after playing with it at the dealership. I didn't bring my old Homelite along for the comparison figuring with it being over 20 years old what was the point? So I told the salesman to fire up the 280T, which he did, and then loaded it into my car and off I went. When I got home I couldn't wait to try it. I live on 4 acres with 2 horse pastures and tons of grass to cut. How the Homelite survived so long I'll never know, as I beat the living tar out that machine. Walking out to my first test cutting I could tell it was heavier than myt old Homelite. I would not want to have to use this all day, as the pros would have to do. But it seems to be no heavier than the competition. So I fired up the Echo and headed for the thick Zoysia grass. I gotta give the Echo credit........when they say it has torque........they aren't kidding. It never bogged or even dropped in RPM no matter what I cut, and the bump feed worked fine. But here's the didn't actually cut tore it to shreds. You know on your mower how they tell you to look at your blades of grass and when you see they're being torn as opposed to cut cleanly it's time to sharpen the mower blades..........well that's what this trimmer did. It tore up everything.......nothing was cut cleanly. I had to make repeated passes over everything to get it all cut down. Now it comes with 0.095 CrossFire line in a "X" cross section, claiming to have 8 cutting edges, as opposed to the much thinner round line I've always used on my Homelite. I also went and tried cutting some thick heavy weeds and small trees, as opposed to just grass, and the result was the shredded everything, not cut it cleanly. So calling this a "string trimmer" might not be correct. As it stands it's a "string shredder". This is probably more of a line problem than a 280T problem. It seemed to make plenty of RPMs, so I'm leaning towards trying a round, thinner line. If that don't work I'm going to rebuild the carb on my Homelite and use it for another 20 years. Would I recommend this Echo trimmer to a friend? Right now I just don't know. To be continued.......if I can do that. July 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Powerful and lots of Torque. I bought one and before I used it I took it back and bought the 280T and when I used it it really got the job done with no problem. I cleared out a lot of little Willow trees and big Canadian thistles. Some of the Willow trees had a diameter of 3" and I am real proud of the way it cleared out all of the things I had to cut. Rated 5 out of 5 by The Cadillac of String Trimmers The SRM-280T is Echo's most expensive professional-level line trimmer and for good reason. It will handle the toughest string trimming jobs easily with plenty of power and torque to spare. There is a reason why this is the string trimmer that you most often see on the trucks of landscapers and lawn care professionals. My unit was delivered quickly and arrived fully assembled - ready to go right out of the box. I filled it up with premix, pushed on the priming bulb the recommended 8 - 10 timers and then pulled on the starter cord with the choke on to get the engine to pop. Two pulls on the cord were all that was required - one more pull on the cord with the choke off and the engine fired right up! The extra power and torque enable the operator to run the engine at a much lower rpm than other trimmers. This not only saves on gas and engine wear & tear, it also reduces wear on the cutting string, which means saving even more money by using less string. Echo's commitment to manufacturing a quality product which incorporates the latest technology coupled with great safety features makes this trimmer well worth the up front investment. July 14, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Plenty of power! I bought this a few weeks ago. Glad i did. Different than my last weed wacker. A lot more power ,and a lot quieter. July 13, 2015
