Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Pleased We bought this unit from McMaster a couple of months back and have used it intermittently. Yesterday the power switch decided to get stuck in the “OFF” position. At least if it had gotten stuck in the “ON” position I could continue to use it by plugging it in and unplugging it. June 17, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointed I purchased the 4200 a few months ago, and was initially very pleased. However, after working on a few projects, the tool started working intermittently and then stopped altogether for no apparent reason. Following the included maintenance/trouble shooting guide didn't help. Given the short life span, it's not worth the money. May 29, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by When it works it's great Bought in June 2013 got through about 4-6 hours of work on a project and it just died. Had to finish with a competitors product and just got back to dealing with the failure. Based on other cOmments I'd guess it is the brushes. Looked for replacements but stores didn't have them and part no. Isn't in the manual. May 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dremel cares about customer satisfaction After reporting problems with the 4200, Dremel immediately contacted me about a replacement. I think they have solved the sticking brush problem that some of 4200 owners have experienced. If your 4200 stops running while under warranty, send it in for a replacement. Dremel does care about us getting the service we expect from one of their products.Except for the sticking brush, this has been a great tool. I've had my previous Dremel for about 30 years and expect this one to outlast me. May 5, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great power and versatility! I bought this primarily for hobby use, cutting plastic and small metal. It works fantastic! The flex shaft really helps to improve my work area and the quick change bit makes swapping tools a snap! April 10, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Used Once, then died I seem to be experiencing the same this as so many others. This is my second Dremel 4000-series unit and both failed after using just once or twice. Great concept, ridiculously poor performance. March 16, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Unit failed but Dremels service is outstanding I previously gave a one star review for the product and I'm afraid that will have to stand as far as durability and longevity but Dremel saw my review and immediately provided me with a new unit.Kudos to Dremel for the great service and standing behind their product! You can't ask for much more than that since perfection is not an option in lifeThe tool is great when it works, hopefully I just got a hold of a bad one and the replacement unit will stand the test of time, the to Dremel for the speedy service.Given the number of problems reported, I couldn't recommend this unit but I can recommend Dremel. Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad out of the box I had to buy a new unit because my company provided one was stolen of a job site. I had to replace the tool and decided to upgrade to the 4200 because of the EZ feature. I did not open and try the 4200 after I purchased it to make sure it operated and that was a costly mistake. I didn't need to use the tool till I had to go on an emergency service call 6 months later at midnight 1.5 hours away. The unit worked for a total of 10 minutes. Needless to say that my boss, the customer and myself were not very happy that the job could not be accomplished. February 23, 2014
