Answer: 
This pump will not fit inside a 6” casing. At this time, Grainger does not have a submersible pump which will fit in a 6” casing and pump to a height of 18’. You may need to use an above ground pump and a suction hose, like item 3YU60.

It needs to stay plugged in until water rises, then turn on to remove the water. It will be placed in a basement that experiences repeat flooding.

Answer: 
This item does not have an automatic switch. This type of pump would be used for dewatering after a flooding has occurred. You may be more interested in item 3P994, which has an automatic switch. Please bear in mind, the water will need to reach a depth of 1” before the 3P994 will turn on and it will discharge until the water level is reduced to approximately ½”. The issue with using an automatic pump in this application is that the basement will need to flood deep enough to turn the pump on.
