Rated 2 out of 5 by Not interchangable We purchased these motors for replacements of our existing motors which use capacitors on them. they would not work with the blades we currently use with our fans because the weight of the blade was to light for the motor capacity apparently. we ended up sending back 2 of them because we could not make them work without buying new blades as well. we happened to have 2 of our fans with the heavier blades. what was occuring was they would spin so freely and fast they would over heat and stop the motor. after about 3 minutes they would restart and shut right back down within 15 seconds. would not reccomend for lighter weight fan motor replacement. Even though the motors were 1/3 for 1/3 did not work. June 19, 2012

Switch

On the comparison page it indicates that this does not come with a 10-ft cord & pull chain switch. Can you clarify? Is this only to be wired into a wall switch? I'm confused.

This item does not come with a pull chain switch or a cord. We have an 8' cord (1FD81) and a pull chain switch (2X373) in our system if you are interested in those accessories.

Answer:
Most motors do not come with cords, if they come with cords it is as a conveniance. If they do not, they can be wired direct to a wall switch, or they can be wired with a cord, A good selection cord for this paticular motor would be Grainger item 1TNB6

Answer:
There are several applications for this type of motor. Some installations, such as agriculture could require this motor to be wired so one main switching device could control any number of these in one circuit. They can be wired also from one wall switch too.
