It says you can mount the fan above the joists so you would not have to cut, if 24" on center. What it doesn't tell me is whether the grill fits between them (22 1/2").

Answer:
The grill does not rely on joists. Wherever you mount the fan, weather its above the joists, or you cut it out, you cut a whole in the drywall ceiling directly underneath the fan and that's where the shutter will mount.

How to mount?

Two of your answers have me a little confused (can mount on top of trusses and rough opening is 24x26). If your trusses are 24" on center, can you mount on top so you wouldn't have to cut one?

Also, if your trusses are 24" on center, will the louvered grill fit being mounted between them (22 1/2")?

Answer:
Hello. If you had 12 inch on center joists you would have to line the unit up like the manual states. Since you have 24 inches on center you can use a regular celiling shutter like the 3HHR2.

If you have futher questions, please call 800-472-4643 and speak with one of our tech reps they will be able to assist you.
