This vacuum switch is intended to be used as a control device to eliminate the need to attend a pump while a limited liquid source is being pumped. By shutting off the electric motor when the liquid is depleted, it helps to protect the pump and the drive from breakdown due to dry operation.

Answer: 
According to the manufacturer, this switch is not adjustable. A mininmum of 1 1/2" of mercury is required to maintain the switch in the closed position. When the switch is less than 1 1/2" of mercury the switch returns to the open position.

Specs?

At what vacuum (Hg) do the contacts open? Contact voltage and ratings? Once open do the contacts stay open until manually reset?

Answers

Answer: 
The manufacturer states: "When the manual start/restart lever is pressed, the switch is brought to the closed position and maintained in that condition by the vacuum on the suction side. When the vacuum is less than 1-1/2" Mercury (21" water), then the switch returns to the open position."

The contact ratings are 110v, 1/2 HP, single phase and 220v, 3 HP, single phase.
