Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

Using a 20lb. LP tank this heater will use 1.40lb. per hour. You should get about 14 hours of constant use from one tank.

No, this unit can not be used in a house. The supplier states in its manual - "This heater should be utilized in sheltered, well-ventilated areas, but never in occupied dwellings."
