My application is a large pond with a liner. There is no access to the center. Sides are very slippery. High head is needed.

Answer:
This item will work at a 45 degree angle as long as it is completely submerged in water. If it draws any air at all it will not operate and the motor will fail. Please make sure it is submerged to an appropriate depth where drawing air will not happen. You may want to consider making a casing to install it in with weights on the casing, as it will keep the pump from moving during operation.
