We are currently under construction for a residence. We have designed into it a whole house fan (30"). The optimum location requires that it be installed VERTICALLY (which I know goes against the norm) in a wall above interior stairs, thus pulling air from the house and exhausting it into the attic to be dispersed through various attic vents. Can this shutter be used in a vertical application? If not, can you recommend one that can? I am having trouble getting an answer to this but I certainly cannot be the first to consider such an application. Thank you.

Answer:
This specific shutter can not be used in a vertical application, this would be for the fan as well. You may be able to use a commercial 30" supply fan fan and matching supply shutters. Because we do not have details I would recommend calling our HVAC Tech Team at 800-472-4643 to go over the details.

Answer:
There is an optional shutter motor available for these shutters, it is Grainger item number 2C904, there is also a cover available which would be used in the winter to prevent heat from rising into the attic space, that is Grainger item number 2NXJ8.
