Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by I've had this unit for almost a year now and I love it, but with caveats below. I have chemical and mold sensitivities and it helps keep my office air cleaner (in addition to a whole house filter) and gets moved to any area of the house that have mild chemical exposure so that it doesn't get distributed as widely through the house.I've gotten two Honeywell cleaners and reacted to the "odor control" in the filter and possibly the glues or plastics they use - even after removing the "carbon" filter from those, I had issues with feeling worse around them. Here are the caveats:- This unit is tiny. It really doesn't move much air even on high. It's compact and perfect for a small room, if you want it to move it about the house with you, or you need something right next to you on a desk or table. But it's not sufficient for larger spaces. It's more of a personal air cleaner than a room air cleaner.- The filters (including the flimsy foam pre-filter, though that one is washable) are quite expensive. There is a HEPA filter that I changed after about 9 months of almost constant use, and behind the HEPA filter is a carbon filter which I haven't replaced as it's the HEPA I'm most worried about, and it looks fine. Rated 4 out of 5 by Air cleaner appears to be working very well. It is presently in a room that is adjacent to an area that is under going heavy renovation. It helps remove the dust and provides some level of sinus relief for everyone working in that room. October 21, 2013

Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following. This product has CA65 flag because of the plastic and PVC since PVC can have trace amounts of lead. It is also banned from sale in California because it is not carb compliant Thank you for using Grainger Ask and Answer.

Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

The UV bulb should be changed annually. The other filters should be checked on a monthly or bi-monthly basis and changed or cleaned as needed.

Answer:
It is hard to say what size room this air cleaner will cover, every room is different. As an estimate, this can cover about 150-250 square feet.

Answer:
There is no information that speaks directly to cigarette smoke and odor.

It states prefilters remove large particles, HEPA filters remove particulates, and activated carbon filters remove odors. UV lights neutralize bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) filters employ UV lights plus titanium dioxide (TiO™) media to destroy bacteria, molds, and viruses.

Answer:
Yes, to the extent that it can move all of the contaminated air. It's not very big. It does a great job when smoke is blown into it directly, but you can still smell the smoke in the room that didn't yet go through the filter (and because smoke settles on things. Putting it on a kitchen counter when I'm deep frying helps, but the improvement seems fairly proportional to how close the unit is.
