This motor CAN be used on a boat lift application assuming it is protected from weather and insect infestation. We have sealed motors too. We can also supply a drum switch and information on the wiring for you too. It would be best to call our Motors Technical Product Support Team so we can advise you on the best motor and reversing switch for your boat lift application. 1-800-Grainger

With or without a potentiometer, this motor cannot be wired to run at a lower speed, due to an internal speed control switch that will begin to modulate.
