Hello Liz W
This pump will handle Semi Solids, that would include Sand, Small Gravel & Mud up to 13/16" in size. That being said continious use in slurry of very sandy water, will result in premature wear on the impeller and pump volute. If your intention is to pump very abrasive materials, you should consider a different pump.
