Rated 3 out of 5 by The unit puts out good heat for the 3 watts settings. The fan is only one speed no matter what setting on watts. I thought the fan would be low, medium, high for watt settings. You only feel the heat out of the heater around two feet. Wish fan was stronger.. April 3, 2014

Answer:
I have 3 of the original Markel heaters made in the US, yes they're old and work fine. These Dayton's look like copies of the Markel. I do need thermostat for 1 of them but it still works. Back to the answer. I use 1 heater in a 300 sq. ft. room as added heater as I live in a co-op and get little to no heat [long story which I will not go into]. It does produce enough heat to keep the room comfortable. Another heater is used in a 130 sq. ft. room and most times it's set to low. I would recommend this heater as Markel heaters are still made but not in the US. IMHO Radiant heaters are far better than any others out there in this price range.
Parts are a problem to find, I have not found an exact bimetal thermostat replacement yet.

Plastic knob broken

The Electric Space Heater DAYTON Mod. 3VU31 is a great product and I have 3 of them. This is my first problem with any of them. One had its operating knob to break. Can anyone point me in the direction for getting a new one?

Thanks

Answer:
Try Radio Shack or even eBay. I'll guess the cost should be about $3.00
