I am looking for a DC motor speed controller that will accept an external speed reference from a PLC (4-20mA or 0-10VDC). I saw a statement on another website that this unit has this functionality, but I can not find anything listed on Grainger's website about it. I am not sure if this is at all related to the auto / manual switch, what is the purpose of the auto / manual switch?

Yes, it is related to the Auto/Manual Switch. This control will accept the 4-20 mA input for operation.
