Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

The only thing that you can do to increase efficiency in your existing water heater is to drain and flush the tank. This will remove the sediment build up and allow for better heat transfer. The other option would be to replace the larger heater with either a smaller (30 gallon) capacity heater or a tankless on demand unit.
