Rated 5 out of 5 by we placed this in a storage room in our barn to keep veggies over the winter in Idaho. We set the temp at 40 and connected it to an oil filled space heater to keep the temp just above freezing. So far so good. October 26, 2012

Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

The 2E817 is design to control a heater and will function in the opposite configuration. The contacts will close on temperature drop. You will want to use part number 11Z436. This thermostat will close the contacts when the temperature rises above the set temperature.
