Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Work or Play Very Good Quality...the way they finish sewing at Stress Ponits, Pockets, Zippers Etc.No Shortcuts!!! Blanket Lining The Best !!Great Jacket Work Or Play!!! April 12, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Weird Size I loved the look of this jacket since the first time i saw it, but what size do i need?!Generally I wear a size S or M, for this jacket I chose a size S but the shoulder and the sleeves are too big although the torso area is too snug!!!Definitely a weird size, sadly this is not for me. Rated 2 out of 5 by Durable Jacket, Clammy Arms This was my first time buying anything Carhartt as I just got into the union construction field. I knew I needed something tough so I bough Carhartt because that's what all the vets in the field wear. I picked the Detroit jacket because of the timeless style and largely because it is made in the great USA by union labor. I read several reviews from what seemed to be people that have worn Carhartt for a long while. They complained about the nylon lining in the sleeves no longer being blanket lined, and it sounded to me like they were being too picky. I was wrong. The blanket lining is great on the body of the jacket but the nylon lining of the sleeves cause my arms to sweat even when it's not hot out. We're still thawing out of winter here in Chicago, and my sweaty arms rubbing the nylon on a chilly March day makes my arms feel like the hotdogs in 7-Eleven on those heated rollers.I hate to complain about an American made work jacket, but I hope this review helps buyers and Carhartt (listen to the suggestion of their consumers) as I am part of the next generation of potential life long customers. I would still recommend it simply for its practical durability, not comfort. So I salute Carhartt with soggy arms for making the Detroit jacket in the USA but I respectfully ask to please get rid of the nylon and brink back the blanket lined sleeves.PS I highly advise using the True Fit guide. The jacket seemed too big at first but after a wash it shrunk just enough to make it a spot-on fit. March 20, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great jacket, weird size sleeves This a great jacket, and would rate 5 stars if the sleeves weren't big around enough for a NFL linebacker. The sleeve length is fine... Just too big around.I'm 6ft, 43inch chest, 180 lbs. Pretty average build and I stay reasonably fit, so expected a better sizing match.Fit great other than the voluminous sleeves. January 24, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Barely lasts 3 winters without fraying I've had multiple Carhartt duck jackets over the past 15 years. I've never had one last more than 3 winters without showing significant wear, primarily around the sleeves. My partner at work also has had multiple Carhartt jackets with the same issues in the last decade.Let me start off by saying that I do not do anything more strenous outside than shovel snow and walk the dog. I don't ride snowmobiles or four wheelers, I don't hunt, I don't work outside.Despite having the easiest life a jacket could hope for, they all still start falling apart at the ends of the sleeves. There's a ring of holes worn through on the outside of the sleeve around where (on the inside) the elastic cuff connects to the sleeve. It's about an inch up from the end of the sleeve. Loose, frayed threads and white blanket liner fall down and are visible from these worn holes. This is congruent with other reviews here and elsewhere, and is very disappointing. The only guess I have is that reaching my hands into the pockets provides enough wear on the end of the sleeves to start them fraying, though the idea of a jacket not being able to stand up to itself is pretty sad.I hope Carhartt reinforces their sleeve cuffs and returns to the fabled quality other posters here have experienced. To Carhartt: if I can provide any information that would be useful to you in fixing this issue on your jackets, I would be happy to. I do enjoy the brand, I prefer Made in America items of clothing, and really would recommend this jacket should this major issue get fixed. Until then, however I regret to say... January 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket Love this jacket. Went through 2 of them in the past and then switched to a hooded jacket. That jacket was too bulky and the hood was in the way if I wore a hooded sweatshirt. Switched back to the Detroit and have not regretted it. Warm enough for the coldest weather and enough room for layering. Highly recommend this jacket. January 5, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome jacket Couldn't be more pleased with this jacket. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews regarding fitment but I have to say it is pretty much spot on. I'm 6'3" and 215 lbs I went with an XL tall and couldn't be happier with the fit. The extra 2 inches in the sleeves and length fit me perfect. Little bit of room in the waist but I believe that's by design as to allow for a more comfortable fit while bending, moving etc. or if you wanted to throw on a sweatshirt or heavy shirt underneath. The construction is top notch and materials appear to be made to last. Looking forward to many years of use from this jacket. November 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Jacket For Working Length is perfect for me...I'm in and out of the truck all day between job sites, and the short length is great for driving. And, wearing a tool belt, it's high enough to stay out of the way of my tools. Surprisingly warm on really cold days despite just being blanket lined. On REALLY cold or windy days, just add a hood. I have an extremes arctic hood that I use, and it steps this jacket up a notch or 2 in what it can do on deep winter windy days. Duck is pretty good at blocking the wind and shedding light rain too. I like that the blanket lined is more versatile than the other linings I have worn....still good for winter, but not too hot as a sprint and fall "emergency" jacket for when the early morning or late evening gets colder than you expected in your tee shirt. It was a good jacket, even when they started making it in other countries. Now that it's made in the USA again, and at a great price, you need one. Especially if you work for a living. Now get one and go get it dirty. August 15, 2015
