Rated 5 out of 5 by Extreme Carhart jacket It's the warmest jacket I've ever owned. It is quite stiff when you first start wearing it but gets better with use. I'd highly recommend if you live in a very cold climate like I do. February 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Always warm First bought this coat with some regrets due to the stiffness of the fabric and just figuring it wouldn't keep me warm here in the nice cold Minnesota winters. But after a few times out with this coat and it has changed my mind and everything I might have once thought about the coat. This coat is very warm and does great here in the wind and snow that we have been having of late. Today was one of the windiest days on record here in Minnesota and I can honestly say I was hot with this coat on and the temps never got above 5 degrees. This coat is well worth the money and the little bit of stiffness that you have to deal with just remember this coat keeps me warm here in Minnesota it will work for you in your state. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Purchase This is a great jacket. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is currently helping me with the winter over here. When I first tried it on it felt stiff, but as I used it more the next day it became more comfortable. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to buy a winter jacket. This jacket should help me through winter for the next coming years. Thank you Carhartt! January 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Durable and long lasting I've had 2 carhartt jackets in my life, one of which is over 8 years old and has been used and abused. The new models are lighter weight which is a plus. Only thing that could be improved is the way the hood fits on the jacket. It wants to consistently flop back on my head while driving. With some break in the issues may go away. Over all the new jacket lives up to my expectations of durability and getting the job done. November 16, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by BULLET PROOF I bought this coat to replace my old standard brown Carhartt work coat which was not looking so great after 14 years of heavy wear.I have been using this model J-133 jacket every day this winter and most of last winter. I have crawled through sharp metal while working in an ice cold aircraft hangar and it never snags nor is it torn. It repeals the rain and wet snow as well. So it goes everywhere with me these days .I have no doubts it will last 14 years just like my last Carhartt jacket. February 5, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good I just bought this. Hope I can edit review later?I drive a trash truck. Empty rear load dumpsters.I need something that will block the wind. Keep me warm. Also won't catch on the dumpsters and tear.I like the outer material. Hoping it won't catch on dumpster corners and tear. It seems like it will block the wind well. We're talking below zero wind chills. I have to stand there operating the back of this truck. This is the one thing I am hesitant on. The two grommet holes under the arms. When wearing this home. I noticed some wind/cold getting inside. I didn't know the holes were there. I'll have to see how it works out. Maybe there is some way to plug the holes if I want to? Maybe something modeled after a tie pin? I realize the holes are there to stop sweating. I'll have to try keeping my upper arms in when in bad cold/wind. I deducted a star for this concern. I also realize the material doesn't breathe. That's what I want, a wind block.I gotta have a good hood like this one. Attached, insulated. Stand facing down wind, and... Block that darn wind!I'm an average guy of 5'9". I bought the large TL. I wanted long sleeves so they wouldn't pull away from my wrist in the cold wind. I usually wear a 2xl shirt. In the end, this coat fits really good. I like that it's longer than other jackets I've had. I tried on a few in the store.I'm hoping this will work out as the perfect jacket for my work. Hope I can edit later. Or post another review. January 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by An okay purchase. I was in desperate need of a new jacket and carhartt has a wonderful reputation for their durable and warm jackets. With that being said I started looking for jackets and came across this one. Overall this jacket is very warm and durable! The only complaint I have is that it is SO stiff. If you want a durable jacket your going to have tough fabric.. I have only worn it a few times and it is already starting to loosen up. Another thing is you should be really careful when choosing the size. I am 5'11" so first I got the Large/Reg I got it and it was so baggy. I sent it back and got a Medium/Reg and it fits perfect. Overall this is a very nice jacket. October 18, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what I was expecting. After reading glowing reviews of the product I figured I would give it a shot. First thing I noticed were the un-lined pockets. Seriously? 120 dollar jacket designed for "arctic temperatures" and you just sew a flap of material on? Secondly, this particular material will take months to work in. I understand it's made for extreme durability, but what do you do in the mean time, look like a fool with your hood laying in some ridiculous position? Thirdly, I purchased an XL/TL and it had so much extra bulk around the belly and just barely enough length im 5'10. If I had sized down to a L/TL it would have been even shorter. I returned the jacket the next day. I know there are many many people on here that are thrilled with the product, I am just not one of them. January 9, 2012
