Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket This was not the jacket I was looking for but stumbled over in the store. My wife knows I am picky and she insisted on the purchase when I said I liked it. It is a great jacket for cool weather and stands up to the heaviest rain. The hood must be designed to wear some other head gear under it or else it blocks your eyes but water and wind are not a problem when wearing this coat. I wish I had chaps made of the same material. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Rain Jacket My wife bought me the jacket for crane rigging. The material seems durable enough to last awhile. The jacket repels water nicely. I would advise getting a 1 size smaller than you would get for a shirt as they run large. I like the jacket over-sized as I will be wearing multiple layers in the winter. June 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This jacket rocks!! Simply the best. I am 57 years young, done tours of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan , and Horn of Africa (Somalia) and have been provided with the best gear available on the market and this jacket rivals all I have worn. I am a gear/outdoor clothing freak and first look for breathability , durability, and then style. This coat rocks it on all fronts. I am a walking billboard for Eddie Bauer First Ascent clothing and won't buy another "welded seam" construction. They just don't hold up to the washing. I have washed my shoreline jacket 100 times without one smidgen of wearing. My two year old namesake grandson will inherit this coat. I wish it was made in the US, but I can't knock the workmanship. Well done Carhartt design team. Keep incorporating the breathability element into your products and send them to Outside Magazine. You would have won the jacket category with this jacket! Rated 2 out of 5 by Decent jacket but hood is terrible I purchased to use on my many outdoor adventures including backpacking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. The color is great; is 3 season warm with no insulation; and the fit is perfect for layering. It doesnt feel as though it would hold up under all day rain; but the material is sturdy, quiet, and could be worn out on the town. However the hood is terrible. Probably designed to be worn over a hard hat, but there's no way to cinch it up if your not. The elastic draw strings also don't stay tight so if the Velcro tabs aren't secure the hood droops. This hood is the main reason I hate the jacket. After only 3 months the Velcro from the hood is snagging everything---including the lining (now ripped) and anything else that comes near. This includes my backpack straps (now destroyed since I didn't figure this out quick enough). Thankfully the hood is detachable. But a hood is what I need in a jacket. I really want to love this coat but would not recommend it. March 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great comfort and value its a great jacket! worth it February 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by My Favorite Jacket Great overall jacket. Has a real "boss" style. I was recently promoted to foreman and needed a more professional look. This jacket gives that appeal. Very comfortable but runs big. I'm 5'9" 170 and had to get a SMALL when I usually wear MED or LRG. Warm but would need a long sleeve shirt undernieth below 50 degrees. More durable than I expected. Tougher than any other rain coat I have. The shell is a little noisy if you're a Ninja but strong enough to withstand a nunchuck attack. October 15, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Jacket This jacket does exactly what it says it will do, keep you dry. It breathes to keep you dry from your own perspiration, keeps the rain out, and fights off the wind. I'm in the timber business so I am ALWAYS in the elements. This is my pic jacket on rainy days. It is NOT a heavy winter jacket for the snow. But is is great even in our cold Colorado rains. As long as the precipitation is "water" and not "snow", this is the ticket. It's the most rugged rain jacket I have ever owned, and wears great. December 3, 2011
