Rated 3 out of 5 by Decent Router, Plunge Base Has Some Slop I bought this router to replace my 1617 router (which is a workhorse) which I mounted in a table. Instead of fussing with removing and reinstalling the router for handheld use, I opted to buy the new MR23 router which came with a plunge base. The router itself is very nice, but the plunge base has some side to side wobble, which seems to rock back and forth on the side which has the spring (the side opposite of the depth stop). I bought the fixed base so I can use this router for edging applications since it is nice and solid. All in all, I like the router and the trigger being in the handle, but the slop in the plunge base is unacceptable. I think the 1617 definitely had a much better built plunge base. I'm not sure if Bosch makes a power adapter so the MR23 router can be used in a router lift (I use a Jessem) due to the unique power terminals, if they do, I would seriously consider switching the routers out so I can use the solid 1617 plunge router and mount the MR23 in the table. Some of the other routers of this same model I have played with in stores either do not have the same wobble, or it is not as bad. October 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lightweight for me! I have a chronic illness and can not lift heavy things. When I saw a demonstration at the Woodworking Show, I loved it. It is not as heavy as the other routers that are out there. Just so you know, I am a woman that love building stuff with wood. It is a great product. This one was the first time I have ever use a router. July 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great router combo, A+ I purchase this combo 2 years ago. I am very happy with the performance, ease of use and overall quality of this product. July 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by simple, durable and easy to use I have been using this router for about 1 month. It's great for an average woodworking doing household pieces and furniture. July 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just As I Expected This is my second Bosch Router. The first I purchased 6 or 7 years age and it has been committed 99% of the time to a router table. It has worked very well and performed any task I asked of it. Lately I have needed a router out of the table and taking one in and out was, well........unacceptable! I also wanted a trigger switch on the handle so I looked at Bosch and guess what????? they had exactly what I was looking for. I've had it about 2 months, used it with and without the plunge base. It has seen oak, cherry, and pine in several thicknesses. I've used it to mortise hinges for clock doors and cut rabits in red oak. It has never faltered on any of these things. The clear base is wonderful, tiny adjustments are perfect and several other features that are nice including the lights on the underside of the motor and the trigger works "Just As I Expected"! I would recommend this router to anyone. December 20, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Router!! I bought this plunge router to help with mortise and tenon joinery. It has been great to use, easy to handle. I love the lighting that shines on the bit and illuminates the work space, less squinting to see the lines :) There are many things I like about this tool, a few specific things are: multi-speed selection, smooth plunging action, multiple depth stops and adjustable depth stop, the on/off button on the handle, and finally-the motor has a soft start which is the best! Not only do you turn it off and on with both hands on the router, but it starts softly, not the usual high torque most other big routers have. October 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Precise, quality, easy to use router combo I purchased this router combo after reviewing all of the routers with similar specs.  By far, the Bosch MRC23EVSK is the best.  I have used it for edge trimming, plunge mortising, detail routing and other woodworking joinery.  Works well, easy setup and use.  No issues.  Case is ok but would be better in LBoxx.
