Answers

Answer: 
Open loop systems are ones which are open to the atmosphere – such as circulation systems for showers or kitchens. Closed loop systems are used for heating systems, where the fluids will not come into contact with the air. As open loop systems will be used primarily with water that is consumed or bathed in, the pumps will have bronze or stainless components. Closed loop systems will have pumps made primarily of cast iron.
