Rated 5 out of 5 Zoom XL 48" with 232 hours Couldn't be happier with this model. It would only make sense to include lights on the mower rather than having to add the optional kit. May 5, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 Gave it more than enough time and also the dealers Ariens was my choice because of its close to home manufacturing and reputation. I have owned the 48 xl for five years now and it has been in the shop more often AND has had back ordered parts when they are needed most (spring). Not comfortable to ride. I mow just under 5 acres so maybe not he best choice in size but ...It starts with the fuel tubes chronically falling out, tragic design for keeping the mower deck level, and poor lever balance for steering. The only good thing about it is the kohler engine. Looking for my next mower (larger) right now - looking past ariens and its cousin Gravley. dealer network in my part of the state (watertown, WI) lacks. May 8, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 Overall an average ZTR I like this unit generally. That being said I had only 5 hours on the machine when I happened to notice that the clip that holds the right rear leveler in place was gone. I had no pin of that design available and resorted to a small hitch pin. I do not understand how something as vital as a keeper pin can just fall off. My wife found the washer out in the hard. Thankfully I do not thing that I hurt the machine. My other concern is the cutting height. The lowest setting is too low and causes scalping, but the second lowest setting is too high. Any idea of a fix for that? June 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 best mower I have ever owned This mower has reduced my mowing time by 1 hour. The cut is even with no scalping and tall or wet grass is not a problem. Cutting the grass is actually fun again. June 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Customer Service Top Notch to go along with the Zero Turn! I cannot tell you how great the customer service is at Ariens. I have called numerous times with various maintenance questions, how to install the accessories that i purchased, etc. It is such a shocker to still see this type of Customer Service! Now to the Mower: I just love this thing. I have 1 acre of yard and this mower really makes it look great! It runs great and i don't have any problems with it's performance. Zero Turn really cuts the mower time down - almost half the time. June 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cut my mowing time in half! I've had my Zoom 48" XL for almost 2 full summers now and I'm very impressed with how well it performs. I've cut my mowing time in half and my grass has never looked so good! The Zoom XL is very comfortable to ride, feels like sitting in a lazy boy while cutting the grass. This rig has plenty of power for towing an aerator without even noticing it's behind you. I have more than a few neighbors watch me as I cut amazed at how fast I can maneuver it around my yard. Made in the USA! What more can you ask for! September 9, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 good value for the price Haven't had much opportunity to use my new Zoom XL48 because its been so dry here in Texas. I was able to get a 2011 model because I wanted the Kawasaki engine. Plenty of power, smooth handling, well built machine. Have a small engine repair shop & my only gripe with Ariens is that parts are somewhat pricey. But this is my first zero turn mower & I chose Ariens. June 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 I have had this Zoom XL 48 for about 2 years now and have... The Zoom XL 48 with the fabricated deck and 24 Hp Kawasaki engine has not let me down yet. The fabricated deck has held up as I expected even in the salt air environment here on the south texas coast area with no problems at all, I would highly recommend the fabricated deck for just a little more money. I am still mowing with the original blades and still get a good even cut (I know I should change or sharpen the blades but the cut still looks good) I was reluctant on buying this zero turn with the Kawasaki engine only because I had never owned a mower this engine, let me tell you that this engine has out performed any other that I have owned and I have owned them all with all of my past mowers. Easy starting every time, easy access for maintenance (oil change, filter change) and plenty of HP for tall grass. I had read reviews of people that didn't like the seat but mine has the high back seat with the arm rests and is very comfortable at 6' 1". I have had no issues with the transmissions and I did perform the required maintenance myself at a 100hrs of run time with ease. Frame construction is welded and built like a steel horse. With the results of this mower to date I may never need another mower. June 11, 2012
