Rated 5 out of 5 by Solid, capable splitter This splitter does what its marketing literature says. It hasn't failed to split a single log I've fed it, including pieces with severe knots. It slows down, but powers through every time. The Subaru Robin engine starts and runs flawlessly on regular non-ethanol gas. Note: Based on bitter experience I never use ethanol gas in small engines regardless of operator manual guidelines.I have one recommendation for Ariens: Please beef up the hydraulic oil filler cap/dipstick assembly. It is very easy to twist the vent cap right off if even minimal resistance is met when tightening or loosening the assembly. June 23, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great machine Good machine. The only problem was numerous leaky hydralic connections that were easy to fix. The manufacturer needs to have better production quality control, however, those problems are minor. The overall machine is great and a good value. June 14, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Had to return two of them First one lasted 2 hours. Valve failed and ram wouldn't reverse. Thought it was a fluke. Returned it and bought another identical one. After 1 hour pump quit and that was it for that one. Took that one back. Learned my lesson and bought high end with good warranty. At barely a face cord with two machines, I'd say avoid orange splitters. But maybe I got both bad ones. June 14, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best splitter I've every used Ths is the best splitter I've ever run and I've ran a few over the years. I took it to camp as well as my neighbors and split alot of firewood and kindling. I ran premium gas in the engine and she purred like a kitten. If you are thinking about a splitter get this one and you won't be sorry! June 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Highly Recommend this unit Got the larger unit at my wifes suggestion and she was right. First the wheel on the drop stand allows you to steer unit on the ground for easy hook-up. The ease of vertical operation allows one to roll heavy wood into place on the ground. Works quickly and slows very little on the hardest wood. Worked so well I helped my friends with their pile of wood and they were amazed how quick we finished the job. Starts well and is quiet, I am very proud of my purchase. June 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ease of starting, power and ram design is great. I looked at splitters for many years...rented a lot. Finally decided to purchase the large Ariens splitter (my dealer didn't have the smaller model and made me a good deal on the larger unit). Very satisfied with the Ariens unit. Starts easy, hydraulics are smooth during operation, haven't heard the engine work hard yet and we have split some stubborn logs. In my opinion, it is worth it to spend a little more and buy the best. Also, trails very well down the road. June 12, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 Fantastic Machine The Ariens 34 ton splitter went through wood which I could not split for over 5years with competitor's machines or any other means. I don't know the species of wood, but i was finally able to split it with the Ariens machine. It powers through white and red oak, maple, and anything else you throw at it.It's just not fair to the wood. It's worth every penny. February 1, 2012
