Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and have been advised by them of the following:
The SM-CAL1 generates a fixed sound level signals for calibration of sound level meters. The Amprobe SM-CAL1 will work with any sound meter.
1. Turn on the sound level meter and configure for 94db or 114db operation.
2. Plug the ½ inch adaptor into the SM-CAL1 sound level calibrator.
3. Insert any sound meter microphone into the Sound Level Calibrator.
4. Turn on the power and set sound level (to 97db or 114db)
5. Observe the sound level meter for proper operation.

I will include a link from Amprobe, however, you may want to call Tech Support and have a direct conversation, and the phone number is 888-361-8649. Also, here is a phone number to Amprobe, 1-877-267-7623. Basically this is a device used to make sure that the sound level meter is operating within specifications.
