Rated 4 out of 5 by Don't write off this compact little ir thermometer. I find it produces very consistent readings that are as accurate as anything I can calibrate against nearer room temperature. Beware none of these things do well with reflective surfaces and air of warmer temperature between you and the object, and take the reading as close to the object as you can get (few inches/feet). My specificuse is at temperatures near 475degF - molten solder and it seems to tell me the right electronics board temperature when it goes liquidus at 219degC - as best I can tell given that the object likely varies in temperature by several degrees within an area that is a fraction of an inch in diameter. These thermometers are looking at larger areas. October 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by way off more than 20 degrees off Although the product description touts it as an HVAC-R tool, it is too inaccurate. Checked it against several Fluke digital thermometers in the HRA lab where I teach and it is way off. March 28, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by This is an impressive instrument. It is compact, rugged and has a laser point and an LED light. And, it uses a regular single AAA battery for power. The battery is easy to replace - NO TINY SCREWS to undo! The pocket clip allows the user to attach to a pocket or their clothing. And it has an 8:1 D:S ratio. The display is sharp, clear and easy to read with a battery status indicator. The only reason it wasn't rated 5 stars is because we haven't field tested it yet. March 27, 2013
