Rated 1 out of 5 by The transmitter has burned up twice. The short time we used it prior to it burning up we could never get it to work properly and ended up using a $50 dollar plug in tracer. June 18, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by We have used this wire tracer 2 times to locate broken cables under ground, it never worked, this is the worst money I have ever spent. January 8, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Transmitter was fried after first use. During the first use of this tracer the transmitter stopped working and had a burning odor. Due to internal complication we were unable to return it for a replacement before warranty expired. Finally I purchased a new transmitter (11/2012) it did work on the first test, hope I can provide a better review later. November 28, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by verry high price, low quality I purchaced AT 4005 con .After using couple hours i find out , that the tracer is not friendly use, it is very difficult to find exact circuit breaker. After two hours the battery in transmiter was allmost deed and the recever was making different type of beep. (like dying).Installed new Energizer batteries and started over, but still was not precise (i was testing same plug, same circuit , but every time showed me different spots). The receiver's head is too FLAT , WIDE, BIG, which makes very uncomfortable to touch and find the circuit breaker.I did not like it and returned to the seller. The price is too high for this type of quality.I use to have other type of Amprobe testers , which were good. I expected At 4005 con to be very good one....sorry did not work for me. April 13, 2012

Answer:
This particular kit contains an accessory (part A2202) that plugs into the transmitter (part T-4000). It is a non contact component that induces a signal into the conductor that it is clamped around so that the receiver can detect it on that conductor at another location, thus identifying it.
