Answer: 
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and has been advised by them of the following.

This heater has a standard thermostat designed for high low setting. You set the thermostat to the level you want to "maintain" and if the air temperature drops below the thermostat setting, the heater will "automatically" turn on.
