Fixture Wattage

What is the actual wattage of the fixture? The Lithonia model number nomenclature indicates that this is a 2 bulb fixture and should be around 64 to 70 watts. Your description says this is a 4 bulb fixture which would be at least 128 watts (total of 4 - 32 watt bulbs) but it is listed as 112 watts.

I've noticed problems with other Lithonia fixture descriptions.

Example: Lithonia SB217 MV (Grainger #6CGC0) uses 2 -17 watt T8 bulbs but the fixture is rated at 17 watts. The wattage of 1 bulb not 2.

I've noticed other fixtures listed that the fixture wattage is lower than the total of the bulbs that the fixture uses.

Please, explain.

Answer:
Grainger has contacted the product supplier and have been advised by them of the following:

You may be confusing the 5YA12 for a two lamp fixture. The model number has “232” in it to indicate it uses two lamps that are F32T8. The “T” at the beginning of the model number indicates a Tandem unit, which doubles the lamp quantity (to a total of four lamps that are 32W each). The input wattage is determined by the total lamp wattage times the ballast factor, which in this case is .88. That equals 112W.

The Ballast Factor of .88 is what allows the fixture to use less than 128W and to be more efficient.

The input wattage for the 6CGC0 should be 28W. Thank you for calling our attention to this error.
